OK, ok, I'll get to the exciting news. But first, its back-story time!
I don't know if you've guessed this already, but I like to write. I have kept a journal since I was in 2nd grade, recording who said what, how many friends I had, and what boy I thought was cute.
When I was in 3rd-4th grade, I even wrote a story, "All about Jenny". In this story, Jenny, a 8 year old girl, like myself, lived a life of adventure and chaos. Her parents were in the military, (which was true of my life, as well) and they moved to Hawaii (at this time, my dad had gotten orders that we would be stationed on Hickham base in Honolulu..his orders changed though and we stayed right where we were)... She had a little brother that got her into trouble, and I think that at one point her house was on fire and she had to save her dog... I still have it somewhere.
Anyway, (here comes the news!) I never considered myself to be "any good" at writing, it was just something I did for fun. A way to record what was happening in my own life, and a creative outlet, so to speak.
Well, back in July, I was feeling particularly optimistic, and sent a piece in to a magazine, with the nudging of my husband and my mom. I thought, its OK, no one will ever actually see it, and this way, I can say I tried and they will leave me alone.
(Are you ready?!)
I got an email Monday, and signed the contract on Thursday........I'M BEING PUBLISHED!
OK...permission to freak out? Because...I am.
I wasn't going to tell anyone, but I knew that after we told our parents, it wouldn't remain a secret for long.Soooo... If you would like to read my first published (ahh!!!) piece, look for the April issue of Homelife magazine, by LifeWay. I know our church subscribes to it, so I'm hoping I will get a copy, and I will be crossing "published author" off my bucket list.
I know its exciting, but I have to admit that I'm nervous. My name will be on something in professional print! I also know that they will edit the piece before it goes into the magazine, so I am wondering what they will take out, or which sentences they will "tweak", etc.
Let's see, in other news:
My phone crapped out and had to be wiped yesterday and I lost a lot of my phone numbers and all of my text messages...so, if you'd like me to have your number, get hold of me!
We got charged a fee for moving apartments-this fee was NEVER once mentioned to us. And I was late in paying it because I didn't know we had one. (Fabulous!)
In the past 24 hours, I have made my husband's hair three different colors- if he doesn't like this one, that's just TOO dang Bad because I'm done dying hair for today.
Oh, my Jamberrys are a month old today and still looking great!
And... No post is complete without a picture of my cat, so here you go. Atti sleeping in an awkward position
2016 is starting out to be an interesting year, for sure! :)
